In the fight against aging, many people are turning to non-invasive skin tightening treatments. Ultherapy is a revolutionary non-invasive procedure that New Beauty has recognized as the gold standard for nonsurgical skin lifting and tightening. We sat down with Dr. Lucy Chen, FAAD of Diane Walder Dermatology by Riverchase to give us more insight into Ultherapy and how this technology addresses this age-old concern.
What is Ultherapy?
Ultherapy is a non-invasive procedure that lifts and tightens the skin on the neck, chin, and brow, and improves lines and wrinkles on the décolletage. During the 30-90 minute session, focused ultrasound energy penetrates deep below the skin’s surface, increasing the production of new collagen. Since the creation of collagen takes time, the results become more evident 2-6 months after treatment.
Why do you prefer Ultherapy to other methods?
Unlike other skin-tightening procedures that only treat one or two areas, Ultherapy has many FDA- approved indications. This method can address loose, sagging skin in common problem areas such as the chin, neck, jowls, brow, and treats fine lines and wrinkles on the décolletage. This wide range of treatment areas allows many of our patients to be excellent candidates for the procedure.
Does Ultherapy work?
Ultherapy uses ultrasound imaging as a way to look inside your skin, incorporating traditional ultrasound imaging. This guided procedure allows the provider to see precisely where collagen growth is needed for skin tightening to occur.
The provider can accurately deliver the Ultherapy treatment to specific depths underneath the skin to successfully address the multiple layers underneath the skin. This precision maximizes tightening and lifting in particular areas of need and eliminates recovery time.
Who is the right candidate?
Generally, Ultherapy is best indicated for those who have mild to moderate skin laxity. While results vary from patient to patient, those with a sufficient reserve of collagen will get the most benefit from the procedure.
Typically candidates are 30 and older, but some younger patients are trying to stay proactive in their anti-aging regimen.
How long does it take to recover from an Ultherapy Treatment?
Ultherapy’s method of skin tightening is non-invasive and does not create any indications that a procedure had been performed. Because of these reasons, many consider it to be a “lunchtime lift” with little to no downtime.
